AlexanderThere was a little boy who lived just down the street. He smiled and waved when I passed by, and at Christmas would bring me cookies his mother had baked. At that time, I was just out of college and living on my own, and I was always glad to have a friend to talk to – even if it was just the little boy down the street. He liked to wander through my garden, and I'd let him pick berries or fruit, for I didn't have the time to tend to a yard myself. But I think, in order to best tell you the story about this little boy, I need to tell you first about Alexander.   I met Alexander the day after I moved into the corner house of that Alexander

Two Pennies and a DimeTwo pennies and a dime sit at the bottom of the wishing well.  The well was an ordinary well, until the pair decided this should not be so.   She declared that she had never visited a wishing well and that logic insisted all unclaimed wells were to become wishing wells, and he was inclined to agree.  It was decided that only very important wishes should be wished at the well, lest the power of the wishing well be drained (for who knows how much power a previously unclaimed well holds?).

UnjustThere are eyes that see what I see, and they watch these plaster walls just crumble down.  The paint peeled back, the floors torn up, till nothing but the door remains.   
There are hands that feel what I feel, and they shake in the cold.  They grasp for another, not wishing to be alone. Yet what they dread most is the long, tearful walk home.   
There is a heart that aches as mine aches, and it fears the pain it brings.  To be drained and forgotten, as by a nuisance flea; shattered and accused, well-wishing mockers abound.  The shards of glass and broken china block the last path to Unjust

The Story BoxIf it can be said that ‘a picture says a thousand words’, then surely an old lady’s jewelry box can house a thousand stories.   I was about seven years old when I claimed my grandmother’s jewelry box.  It was one of those phases in a little girl’s life when she realizes she has to be beautiful.  And this need for beauty inspired me to open up the little wooden box and present each piece to my grandmother.     Oh the glow in her eyes!  With each ring or necklace that I lifted from the box, her eyes grew larger and more round, and mine did the same.   The Story Box

I feel like I haven't been able to work on much of anything lately.

The personification project is still in the works, as are... all of my various other projects. I haven't forgotten about any of them yet, but I've had incredibly little time this semester to write.

Christmas break begins this week, so I'm looking forward to a little R&R and maybe some writing. I have another Alexander story I was almost finished with, so I'll probably finish that up first. :)

If anyone has an idea for something to write, I'd love to hear it. I guess what I've submitted recently reflects my current writing mood.
